Which Program Has Fallen Farther, and Other Items

Well, as to the relative nadirs of the Domers and the 'Victors,' they'll settle that on Saturday. I'm guessing Notre Dame is closer to rock bottom than Michigan. ND is currently 107 out of 119 in total offense. They can't score and they can't stop anybody. At least UM demonstrated the ability to move the ball and score on the Div 1AA national champs.
-We finally get to see Florida play somebody.
-We need 'SC to run out to a big lead early.
-A Buffs win over the 'Noles would demonstrate that the turnaround is indeed in progress.
-Here's to South Florida silencing the annual Tuberville whining about how tough he's got it.

Well, after today's Wolverines win against the Irish, George Gervin has withdrawn his wish to come out of retirement to "see how many I could hang on that Michigan defense."
Clearly ND showed today that they have hit bottom that is far rockier than Michigan's, but we knew that before the ball was kicked. Both programs have fallen far, but the key difference has been the speed of each progam's fall. ND has been on the decline for some time now - a slow march through the land of mediocrity to where they now reside, somewhere beyond rebuilding. Michigan's drop this season was more sudden, and for much of the country, out of nowhere. I mean they started the season ranked #5.
What I don't get are the commentators who trot out the "not his players excuses" for teams. I keep hearing it about Charlie Weis and I've now heard it about Hawkins at dear old CU. Granted, these coaches may not have been in the living room talking to Mom and Dad, but these players are Divison I players (oops, sorry NCAA, I mean Bowl Division) are they not? Is there a group on the teams holding onto some resentment? "He didn't recruit me, so I'm not playing hard."
As to some of BobbyDinKnow!'s bulleted points.
- Florida did play somebody and now everyone on ESPN is tripping over themselves to declare them "scary good."
- SC did just that. Did anyone really think Nebraska had a chance?
- A Buffs win was not to be. Like last week (ok, the second half last week) versus ASU, the lack of speed killed. Even when the Buffs tricked the Noles with a draw or screen pass, their D was fast enough to recover. But, hey cut them some slack; they're the leftover players from the previous coach.
Speaking of last week's CU-ASU matchup, where were the "outside the lines" stats from these two schools with rich, storied party-school tradtions. Which school had more sorority girls with alcohol poisoning? Which school saw the most gameday arrests?
