What storied program has fallen farther? Dame or Michigan?

Clearly UofM now owns the distinction of suffering the worst loss in NCAA football history. Happy-footed Appalachian State did what every other spread attack with an semi-athletic quarterback has been doing to Michigan since Donovan McNabb made them look beyond silly a decade ago.

Notre Dame? Eeessh. A bad loss to Ga Tech but not even the same league as UofM's disaster. Niether team has demonstrated they can win a big game in recent years. Dame's problems go back several more years than Big Blue's. And Dame has had a propensity to get blown out quite frequently, but does this embarrassment in Ann Arbor make Michigan the more laughable program?

I'm saying yes.

I honestly believe that ND has falled way farther than Michigan. Michigan didn't loose b/c it lacks talent it lost because it did not show up to play. Notre Dame on the hand is lacking defensive and offensive talent. Had the rambling wreck walked into Ann Arbor, the maize and blue would have come ready to play and won by double digits. I guarantee that Michigan will come to play against Oregon next week.

I think the fall of storied programs has more to do with their recruiting bases than anything else. Schools that recruit most of players from outside the state like Michigan, Notre Dame, Colorado, and Tennessee have had a hard time comepeting with the in-state programs in talent rich states. Thus, the decline of said programs

Since Dame is into Weiss for 10 years, I'd say they are in more trouble. If things start going downhill, which it appears they are, a buyout will be next to impossible. Funny how a blowout loss 4 years ago was pinned on Ty, and a blowout loss last week was also pinned on Ty. How long will Notre Dame continue to blame the brutha for all its woes (while convincing themselves somehow that Quinn and Samardjia were Weiss' players)?

Weiss has a leash long enough to fit around his waistline. If and when the heat comes he will bully the administration/fan base etc into keeping his job. Ty was above that. I love how Irish Nation comes up with stuff about their academic standards, no JC's etc. when they lose.
The true measure of Dame's status will be two years from now. All it will take there is one 11-1 season with a BCS bowl win and they will be all the way back. I saw the same thing happen at SoCal in 2002; win 8 in a row, sign Reggie and Lendale the rest is history

UM is a dead man walking with Carr. Nothing short of Big 10 title and win vs Ohio State will save him. Whose next in line will be interesting. I don't know too many innovative young offensive minds from the Bo coaching tree.
