Nick Saban is already in peak performance mode at Alabama. It never hurts to get an early jump on recruiting violations. You don't want your opponents to have an edge in news clippings. No word if the self-reporting of violations is a strategy by Saban to get Alabama to void his contract so that he can take over as manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

Because of the minor nature of the recruiting violations, I suspect the NCAA will be rather lenient in this instance and only take away one or two scholarships from Colorado...
